Online retail was the holiday season’s big winner.

61% of Americans in households that earn more than $100,000 have visited an online retail site in the past 30 days, according to the American Association of Advertising Agencies’ 2009 Mendelsohn Affluent Survey. That percentage jumps to 63% for those in households that earn more than $250,000.

Online retailers were the big winners this holiday season, as their sales grew significantly faster than those at stores, according to the MasterCard Advisors SpendingPulse report released today.

E-commerce sales were up 15.5% over last year for the period Nov. 1-Dec. 24, and 18% since the Friday after Thanksgiving, says the report from MasterCard Advisors, the consulting arm of MasterCard Inc. Overall, retail sales increased 3.6% during the period, a substantial improvement from a 2.3% drop-off during the 2008 holiday season, MasterCard says.

The e-retail segment registered double-digit growth in all but one week during this holiday season, MasterCard says.

According to IRNewsLink and comScore… Online retail sales totaled $4.74 billion for the week ended Dec.13, topping the previous one-week best of $4.70 billion set in December 2007.

We have a customer in the Albany area that wants us to build a 6 foot by 6 foot cherry bookcase [can be in two side by side sections]. He is willing to pay over $2500.  We don’t have the time as our own schedule is out into Feb/Mar.
